Generic Bike Season Training Plan, (ATP) TSS per month

TSS by time of season based on ONE “A” designated event and/or ONE “A” designated time span. (Max 2weeks for Event)  TSS schedule below may vary based on “A” Event Duration and Intensity. 

All ATPs require a selected Goal Event or time span of top performance. Without a goal, a coach and athlete can only focus on individual work that will lead to very general fitness improvement. Prescribed work without a goal will be a scattered mix of what the coach can surmise from discussions with the athlete about desired results.

            9 months prior to  “A” Event(s)  TSS per week Avg 250. Longer easier training sessions but with some high intensity added occasionally to keep the body aware of future intensity.

            7 & 8 months prior to  “A” Event(s) TSS per week Avg. 300 Duration and Intensity and Strength increases.

            6,5 &4 months prior to  “A” Event(s)  TSS per week Avg. 350 More intensity and duration that reflects what the actual goal events will look like.

            3 months prior to  “A” Event(s)  TSS per week Avg. 350. More increases that are event specific, some reduction in Strength specific work.

            2 months prior to  “A” Event(s)  TSS per week Avg. 350 to 450

            1 month prior to  “A” Event(s)  TSS per week Avg. 450 to 250, decreases as event nears

            2 weeks prior to “A” Event(s) TSS per week Avg. 250 Keeping Fitness but Intensity and Duration drops show Form recovers.

            Event Month,  TSS dependent on actual Event duration & Intensity TSS per week varies from 250 to possibly over 700 depending on duration and intensity of the “A” Event.

            1st month after “A” Event period TSS per week Avg. 250 as athlete recovers and rests after the main “A” event.

            2nd month after “A” Event TSS per week Avg. 200, as athlete continues to recover, off season and to begin thinking about the new season events.
