4 Year Anniversary of the Great Australian Crossover

Yes, the years just keep passing along and then one day, it’s time to look back. For a long time now, I’ve been meaning to get back to my blog entries from the 2022 adventure across AU. Not really thinking about the dates we rode and today’s date, I got a start on reorganizing all the pages recentlyy, which are mostly media, pictures and video. Pages take a bit more time to create and label and organize when created and while we were riding, there was very little free time for me. Up early, ride all day and sometimes into the night, eat a big dinner and then for me, try to get into bed and asleep by 9 or so. It worked most days but that leaves almost no blog time other than to jot down and bunch of notes to be arranged later. The rest days are when I got a chance to check my daily notes and create better blog pages and posts.

What I did have tome to create were Posts, easier, quicker, able to stage them on the home screen of my blog so anyone could easily catch up if they wanted to. The annoying part of posts is that they end up getting shuffled to the bottom of what anyone will ever look. Even for me it is cumbersome to scroll down through 40-50 posts just to find the text descriptions of the daily rides.  They just aren’t attached to the MENU under the Cross-AU heading and there is no easy search box to help find them. It just messes with my orderly mindset.

By coincidence, I’ve picked now to work on solving the mess.  And it’s the 4-year anniversary. We started riding from Perth on Aug. 1st, 2022. I started reorganizing a few days late, Aug. 4th, 2026.

The old original posts are still up and can be found by scrolling for a while but now, if you have any interest, you can click on the MENU, top right of the blog, look down a bit to the Australia: A Cross. Continent Bike Ride header and below that and now in chronological date order from beginning to end are all the past video and picture entries as well as all the daily Text updates, copied and pasted from the original posts with no added drama. Just the bare reality of how it went and how I felt daily. Good, bad and ugly as is said.

I am aware that sorting the mess is more my demented, organizational patterns and probably very few will look or notice but I feel relieved now that there is order.

This is going to be a post as well, so it will disappear in the posts archives, probably never to be seen again leaving room for new and interesting current news, plans and activities.

Anyone reading, I hope you all are good and enjoy what is now history that I am so lucky to have lived and enjoyed.

P.S.  Scotty, my ride mate of 2022, earlier this year did a similar ride across the continent, self-supported as part of the Indie-Pac organized ride. Good on you Scotty, amazing to do the ride again and not have all the luxury we had with Bushy supporting us ever mile.
