Mental Tenacity Continued

You made the decision that fitness would be a priority in your life, congratulations, wise choice. You are already poised to make your future life more rewarding. Whether you complete multiple days of active walking, your first 5K Walk/Run, sign up and attempt some long distance or grueling marathon, 100-mile bike ride, first race of some sort, you are setting the stage to be a winner in life’s challenges.

You also know that it took time and some dedication to get you to now and will probably take lots more time to get to future goals and accomplishments. As you get more engaged in your journey, you need to mentally prepare. You needed to set aside some time to acclimate and adjust to your new activities. You might have found some new reason to be excited about starting each day. Time to look further forward and learn to enjoy the path.

You may have also realized some obstacles when you started to set aside time for your new activities. You maybe had to postpone or cancel some past regular activities. Maybe you had a strenuous week and felt too tired to take on that new skill. Some doubts may have wormed their way in and made you think that new goal was overly optimistic and was not within reach.

That’s when Mental Tenacity becomes your friend. Stop a bit and reassess your goal, the time you have available, the things in your life you can reduce or give up. Maybe you need some equipment a certain activity requires and that may seem overwhelming.  Time for a reset and mentally reaffirm your commitment to the new path of exploration and excitement.

This first reassessment time you need to go through probably won’t be your last. Life is like that, as we all know, Over, Under, Sideways, Down. Don’t panic, relax, regroup and get back at it.  Enjoy the uncertainty, experience and the learning ahead.

Welcome to the next adventure in your life. Next up is what you want to ask as you start the journey.
